Calabasas Toastmasters Message from the Club President |
Welcome to the Calabasas Toastmasters Web Site! As our name implies, we are a Toastmasters group that meets in Calabasas. Why Toastmasters? Although Yahoo! classifies our club us as a social organization, Toastmasters is a proven method of improving your public speaking and leadership skills, going back to the 1920's. (Yes, the program's been updated since then.) Some instruction, some practice, some feedback in a supportive environment, and you're on your way. The Toastmasters method is effective, it's efficient, and it's economical. (Semi-annual dues cost less than a tank of gas for an SUV: they're popular out here. Actually, depending on the SUV, ANNUAL dues cost less than a tank of gas.) Why Calabasas Toastmasters? Calabasas is an exceedingly pleasant suburban community. That would describe our members as well. As organizations go, we're pretty darn social, to give Yahoo! its due. We love guests; all of our members started out that way. When you visit (hint, hint), you may find the skill level of our members intimidating, but trust me, they didn't start out that way. In fact, no matter how inarticulate, timid, or heavily-accented (we get a lot of international tech types) you may be, we've brought up someone who was much worse than you are. So pay us a visit!
